Ayush Choudhary - Founder
Ayush Choudhary, the founder of Cocoon Rugs, established the brand in Mumbai in 2009. Holding dual undergraduate degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and dual master’s degrees from the London School of Economics, Ayush brings his creative ingenuity blended with academic excellence to the table.
As the second generation of a rug design and manufacturing house, his connection to the craft runs deep. Since childhood, Ayush has travelled extensively to the remote areas around Rajasthan and Gujarat, soaking in the rich tradition of carpet weaving. The early years honed his design sensibilities, allowing him to add meaning to the colours, textures, and designs.
One of his trips home while pursuing his master’s at the London School of Economics brought him closer to his roots. In the middle of an exciting carpet retail opportunity, Ayush re-established his association with the craft. Today, he handles finance & strategy for the brand.
Smriti Choudhary - Brand Director & Catalyst for Change
Smriti Choudhary joined the Cocoon team in 2018 as the Brand Director. After finishing her Master’s in Marketing from the University of Nottingham, UK, Smriti worked with a leading fashion house in Mumbai as the head of Marketing and PR for over two years.
Soon after, the opportunity to join Cocoon Fine Rugs arose, and she decided to take on the new challenge. Cocoon was on its growth path and knew she could play an important role in the brand’s next growth stage.
Embracing every challenge, infusing positive energy, and strategically taking every course of action, Smriti leads a young and dynamic team. Her responsibilities span day-to-day operations, events, outreach, digital strategy, and brand collaborations.
Beyond her professional achievements, her passion for travel has significantly helped shape fresher perspectives in design. Being a travel connoisseur, her global journeys inspire the tones, textures, and patterns of the brand’s offerings.
Her distinctive vision continues to elevate the presence of Cocoon Rugs, marking the products as symbols of timeless beauty.
